Welcome to the South Dakota Planners Association’s (SDPA) official website. SDPA is a non-profit association committed to providing service to the citizens of South Dakota in the development of appropriate land use policy which protects and manages our resources and enhances South Dakota’s economic vitality. SDPA is here to assist governments, developers, residents and investors in promoting growth that is manageable, productive, and sustainable.
Our membership includes professional planners, engineers, consultants, attorneys, elected officials, planning commissioners, faculty, and anyone interested in land use policy. The membership is represented by municipalities, counties, state officials, federal officials, private sector employees, and academia. The SDPA membership form is posted on this website. We welcome your membership and your encouragement of others to join. Your membership provides access to other features on this site, discounts at our conference, and other benefits.
Something to remember, if you do become a member of SDPA, please adjust your computer to receive messages electronically from the website. The website manager periodically sends out email blasts with reminders, new posts or new things on the website. If you do not have the email unblocked then you will not receive this information.
South Dakota Planners Association hosts an annual planning and zoning conference. We strive on trying to hold the conference in a different location of the State so everyone can attend. At this conference, you will hear experts in land use policy discussing land use regulation, planning techniques, and current trends in development. Details on the location, dates and agenda of the annual conference are located elsewhere on this site.

SDPA MEMBERS
In the past we have tried to have a MEMBERS ONLYarea on our website, but for 2 years we had tried to get our members to use this part of the site. At the SDPA Member Meeting in September of 2012 it was decided to discontinue this portion of our website. Our site will be more of a public infromation tool. All information posted on the site will be viewed by the public and the posts that were once on the site will be removed.
You can still REGISTER AS A MEMBER on this site and this will allow me to keep an active log of who wants to be in contact with SDPA. I will continue to send updates about the site through this process to those people that have registered as members. So I still encourage you to register.
All previously registered members your information is still on the site and can be used, so keep your log in and password.
